Data-based condition monitoring with the SENTRON portfolio

In an era of digitalization and automation, a reliable power supply is vital for the safe and economical operation of buildings, industrial plants, and infrastructures. Power failures can result in severe damage.

By recording and evaluating condition data from important core components in the low-voltage system, malfunctions and imminent device failures can be detected before they cause a plant failure. As a result, maintenance activities can be promptly initiated and unplanned power failures and shutdowns can be avoided.

The exact time of maintenance is critical for efficiency and plant availability. Although replacing a device too early prevents unplanned downtime caused by worn-out equipment, it also ends up causing the replacement of fully functional components proactively.

Maintenance that comes too late has even more serious consequences. For example, a circuit breaker failure endangers the protection and reliability of the entire downstream power supply. On the other hand, predictive maintenance uses precise, data-based predictions of when components require maintenance or are going to fail.

The condition data is acquired via communication-capable SENTRON protection, switching and measuring devices. This data is forwarded, visualized and evaluated using the SENTRON software solutions for low-voltage power distribution. This allows early detection of imminent failures and, in most cases, prevention before the failures occur.
