The Building X platform provides a secure and accessible foundation for running building operations applications. Applications are focused on use cases, and are developed by Siemens and certified partners. APIs can be used to create applications to run on Building X.

What do I purchase?
You purchase subscriptions to the applications or APIs. When you buy an application or API, you get the underlying platform. The platform acts as an operating system and provides a central launchpad for everything you subscribe to.

How do I get started with an application?
Before you buy your first application, you need to consider the connectivity of your buildings. The Building X platform provides a central data lake where you can store all of your data, eliminating data silos and allowing your applications to access all data across your portfolio. To get this data into the data lake, you need devices gathering the data and gateways getting the data into the platform.

How do I get connected?

Siemens offers building management systems, such as Desigo CC and Desigo Optic. If you have one of those already installed in a building, connectivity is natively built in and that building is ready to be connected to the data lake.

Otherwise, you need a gateway to collect and consolidate data points from your devices, like building automation controllers, sensors, meters, fire control panels, etc. Our gateways include edge technology and preprocess data locally before sending it to the data lake in the cloud. Our cloud is hosted by AWS.

AI powering connectivity

Connecting buildings to the cloud can be challenging. Most of today’s solutions require months, if not years, to onboard a single building or campus. But thanks to AI-based semantic enrichment, Building X automatically recognizes the majority of relationships in buildings and enriches them semantically. For example, it can detect temperature sensors and which HVAC equipment they belong to, as well as their units of measurement (C° or F°).
