Siemens EcoTech 評估的基礎是「穩健生態設計」方法。該框架提供了一套涵蓋整個產品生命週期三個維度的全方位標準。產品必須滿足強制性要求，並在每個維度中至少符合一項標準。

Each labeled product must have an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) published which includes a robust Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA). It has to be compliant with substance regulations by avoiding substances of concern.
