Welcome

Siemens at HUSUM Wind 2017

You were warmly invited to visit us at the HUSUM Wind trade show with this year's motto "Creating the most from wind – discover the value of digitalization". Our focus this year was on Digitalization and Engineering Efficiency. Our Experts were happy about your visit in Hall 2 Booth 2A08.

We were also offering interesting presentations including topics such as increasing the efficiency of wind turbines as well as solutions for lowering the Cost of Energy with digital solutions.

Digitalization – Simulation and optimization of wind turbines reduce cost of energy

Presenter: Günter Heckel, Siemens AG

When: Tuesday, 12 September 2017; 2:30 – 2:50 PM

Digitalization is an opportunity for innovation in the wind energy industry. By using the latest simulation and virtualization technology and optimizing the interfaces between standard tools, such as GH-Bladed and MATLAB/Simulink, and SIMATIC, we are developing the next generation of wind turbines. Simulation and optimization of wind turbines long before they are built, significantly reduces the risk of failures, damages, time-to-market and ultimately energy costs.

Prospects for drives – How condition monitoring expands horizons in the age of Industry 4.0

Presenter: Bernd Zippel, Siemens AG

When: Wednesday, 13 September 2017; 12:00 – 12:20 PM

The term "Condition Monitoring" usually refers to an analysis of vibration measurements, which means the "interpretation" of noises. This allows us to make more or less reliable statements about damages to drivetrains.

However, only colleagues who have many years of experience in the respective industry application can provide these services.

Increasing amounts of information from the process, not only vibration data but other various measured values (currents, voltages, power ratings, temperatures, wind direction, wind speed, grid behavior and many more), enable data analysts to identify new correlations and point out new dependencies for potential damages to experts.

Condition Monitoring will significantly expand its horizon in the age of Industry 4.0. This requires an open platform to integrate data provided by various manufacturers in the analysis.

The wind of change? – The importance of SCADA Systems in a world of clouds and virtualization

Presenter: Hans Neudecker, Siemens AG

When: Wednesday, 13 September 2017; 4:00 – 4:20 PM

Cloud services are everywhere these days. Many companies – including numerous wind farm operators – are looking for virtual solutions for their control management.

The hope: Services from the cloud will eliminate the need for expensive servers on-site, which means cloud services could ultimately replace a SCADA system completely. This will most likely be the case for part of the control system landscape. Siemens offers MindShpere to cover these services.

The presentation will showed the positioning of the tasks and functions that are still better solved with SCADA systems. You learned more about the additional advantages of a SCADA system, such as WinCC OA, and how you can benefit from them at the HUSUM Wind.
