The December release brings a range of enhancements across the Building X portfolio, improving energy performance management, daily operations, and security workflows. Updates also strengthen data handling, rules, and system connectivity to support more efficient and reliable building operations.

What’s New in Building X – December 2025 Release

1. UL Solutions Smart System Platinum Rating

Building X and Building X Operations Manager have achieved UL Solutions Smart System Platinum, confirming independent verification of their smart building capabilities.

Why this matters:

  • Provides trusted, third-party validation to support procurement and governance decisions
  • Confirms readiness for advanced smart-building use cases and portfolio-wide digitalization

2. Energy Manager - Energy Performance Indicators

Energy Manager Essential (formerly Site) has been enhanced with Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs/KPIs) and automated rules to help customers better measure, monitor, and optimize energy performance.

Why this matters:

  • Establishes clear energy baselines and tracks performance over time
  • Helps prevent peak demand charges, detect abnormal or after-hours consumption, and reduce bill surprises through automated monitoring
  • Additional enhancements include scheduled reports, anomaly notifications, weather data integration, and advanced analytics

3. Security Manager – Remote Door Opening & Scheduling

Security Manager now supports remote door opening and time-based scheduling, enabling secure access control via mobile or web interfaces.

Why this matters:

  • Enables faster, more flexible access management from anywhere
  • Reduces manual effort while enforcing consistent access policies
  • Improves operational efficiency without increasing on-site resources

Additional updates include Apple Wallet credentials, improved activity logs, PDF support in workflows, and synchronized mobile access photos.

4. Lifecycle Twin – Fault Animations

Lifecycle Twin now visualizes faults with animated, color-coded indicators, helping teams understand issues within the context of the full system.

  • Speeds up root-cause identification and improves impact assessment
  • Helps prioritize maintenance tasks more effectively
  • Supports remote diagnostics and reduces on-site maintenance effort
