LOGO! 9 is designed for small control and monitoring tasks in machines and buildings. Typical applications include lighting schedules, ventilation control, pump operation and simple machine sequences.

You combine logic, timer and counter functions in a program, then connect the sensors and actuators your application needs. For example, you can switch equipment according to a schedule, respond to a sensor signal or count operating cycles.

Digital and analog expansion modules provide additional I/O. Display options and web visualization help you see operating values and adjust configured parameters.

LOGO! 9 gives you more room to develop your application while retaining the familiar LOGO! approach:

• More control functions: Up to 800 function blocks, compared with 400 in LOGO! 8, plus floating-point arithmetic for calculations with decimal values.
• More I/O: Support for up to 16 expansion modules, with system limits of 64 digital inputs, 60 digital outputs, 16 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs. The achievable combination depends on your hardware configuration.
• Color touch operation: An integrated color touchscreen on Basic Modules with a display, plus the external 4.3-inch LOGO! TDE.
• Integrated web visualization: LOGO! Soft Comfort V9 combines programming, web visualization and simulation on Windows, macOS and Linux.
• Built-in security features: Secure boot, secure LOGO! communication and user management with four roles help protect access and device integrity.

Existing control programs can be converted for LOGO! 9 with LOGO! Soft Comfort V9. Hardware compatibility must be checked separately.

LOGO! 9 is a practical choice for a clearly defined control task when compact hardware, straightforward programming and simple operation are your priorities. Examples include controlling a pump, automating ventilation or monitoring a small machine.

Consider a suitable SIMATIC controller if your application requires PROFINET IO, motion control, larger distributed architectures or engineering in TIA Portal. Safety functions require an appropriate fail-safe controller and safety components.

Choose based on the functions, signals and communication your application needs — including any expansion you already anticipate.

You can retain your existing control logic by converting the program with LOGO! Soft Comfort V9. Review the converted program and test it with the selected LOGO! 9 hardware.

For the other components:

• Digital and analog expansion modules: Replace LOGO! 8 I/O modules with compatible LOGO! 9 modules.
• Communication modules: LOGO! CSM, CMK 2000 and CIM are compatible with LOGO! 9 Basic Modules. Check their settings for the new configuration.
• Display: The LOGO! 9 TDE is designed for LOGO! 9 and cannot be used with earlier LOGO! generations.
• Web visualization: Existing LOGO! Web Editor projects can be migrated to LOGO! Soft Comfort V9 using the dedicated migration procedure.

Software compatibility does not make LOGO! 9 a direct hardware replacement in every installation.

Start with your existing application and work through four steps:

1. Record the requirements: Supply voltage, signal types, I/O count, communication connections and operator functions.
2. Select the components: Choose a LOGO! 9 Basic Module, compatible I/O modules and the required display and communication options. Confirm component availability.
3. Prepare the project: Convert the control program in LOGO! Soft Comfort V9 and migrate any existing web visualization. Review I/O assignments and communication settings.
4. Test the installation: Simulate the application, configure user access and verify operation on the new hardware before putting it into service.

Plan the replacement of LOGO! 8 I/O expansion modules as part of the changeover.

LOGO! 9 provides several ways to exchange data and make operating information accessible:

• Modbus TCP/IP: Connect to compatible automation devices and systems over Ethernet.
• MQTT: Exchange selected data through an MQTT broker for use in connected applications.
• Web server: Access configured visualization pages and operating values in a web browser.
• Local displays: View messages and adjust configured parameters using a Basic Module with a touchscreen or an external LOGO! TDE.

For additional connections, LOGO! CSM provides Ethernet switching, CMK 2000 connects to KNX, and CIM supports data exchange with software and connected devices.

Select the interfaces and configure access protection to match your application and network.

The LOGO! 9 portfolio includes:

• Eight Basic Module variants, with or without a display
• The LOGO! 9 TDE with a 4.3-inch color touchscreen
• LOGO! Soft Comfort V9
• LOGO! 9 expansion modules: DM8 230R, DM8 12/24R and AM4 AI/AQ

Further expansion modules are planned for 2027, including additional DM8 and DM16 variants, AM2 RTD and AM4 AQ.
