Spray drying is an extremely energy- and time-consuming process used by the dairy industry to evaporate the liquid in milk using a stream of hot air. The result of the expensive process is dependent on multiple factors, including the operator’s experience and an advanced process control (APC) system.

Solution

Industrial Edge from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio collects data from sensors in and on the spray dryer. This data is fed into the dryer’s Digital Twin to precisely optimize the process.
