In urban areas, traffic noise affects the daily lives of millions of people. Vehicle manufacturers must meet increasingly demanding acoustic performance targets across all vehicle types, from trucks and buses to passenger cars and motorcycles.
For hybrid and electric vehicles, new standards are in place for measuring minimum noise emission. For these vehicles, an acoustic vehicle alert system (AVAS) adds exterior noise to ensure pedestrian safety.
