Flexible financing options

Our flexible financing solutions allow customers to make milestone payments during the implementation period while gaining full ownership of the installation, including all potential Facility Improvement Measures. With Siemens, you may also benefit from guaranteed energy savings, ensuring long-term value and efficiency. To support your project’s success, we offer tailored performance advisory services and operations & maintenance (O&M) through separate contracts. For financing, choose from options like a loan, a ‘Sale & Leaseback’ arrangement with Siemens Financial Services (SFS) or a third-party bank, or even a sustainability-linked bond or loan, empowering you to move forward confidently.

Performance-based contracting

With our performance contracting model, payments are pre-defined and based on achieved savings. Customers gain full ownership of the installation and all possible Facility Improvement Measures, backed by Siemens' savings guarantee. In the event of non-performance, shortfall compensation ensures peace of mind. We develop technically and commercially viable projects under a Multi-Element Arrangement, combining EPC contracts with long-term service agreements. For added flexibility, refinancing is available through “Sale of Receivables” (unencumbered cash flow). Performance advisory, monitoring, and traditional services are mandatory to ensure guaranteed savings are consistently met.

Off-balance sheet energy savings solution

With this model, the installed equipment is not owned by the end-customer, allowing for off-balance sheet treatment , with no impact on the customer’s balance sheet. This structure ensures cash flow neutrality, as annual payments are less than the energy savings realized. Pre-defined payments are tied to Energy Saving Services, while Siemens takes full responsibility for the functionality and technical performance of the installed equipment. Siemens also offers additional services to safeguard and enhance savings over the contract's lifetime. Our abstract savings guarantee ensures that savings obligations are met, while Siemens’ internal "Embedded Lease" model supports sale and leaseback options through Siemens Financial Services (SFS) under the Prime Contractor approach.

Energy as a Service

In our Energy as a Service model, the end-customer does not own the installed equipment, facilitating a flexible financial approach. Compensation varies based on defined outputs such as kWh, steam, compressed air, or energy conversion – similar to Solar PPAs or performance/availability fees. Outputs are precisely calibrated and metered, with a detailed audit trail. Using the DBOOM model (Design, Build, Own, Operate, Maintain), we manage the entire project lifecycle. Installations can be sold to a SPV, or an Embedded Lease model allows for internal leasing through Siemens Financial Services (SFS) under the Prime Contractor model. This setup provides variable compensation compared to fixed payments and includes options for financing through third-party investors.

This model features pre-defined service payments that ensure savings exceed costs, resulting in positive cash flow. The arrangement is managed via a single XaaS (Anything-as-a-Service) contract, with no transfer of ownership involved.
