One year left: get ready in time!

By the end of 2026, multi-apartment and district-heating buildings must comply with these legal requirements!

New metrology laws came into force last year, which from January 1, 2027, will apply not only to new buildings but also to existing multi-unit buildings with central heating or district heating. The experts at Siemens are here to help!

What are the main rules to follow?

It will be mandatory to ensure separate billing for each unit by installing heating and/or heating/cooling flow meters, cost allocators, and water meters.

From January 1, 2027, only remotely accessible meters, i.e., meters suitable for remote reading, will be allowed to operate in Hungary. This means that existing meters that are not capable of this will also have to be replaced.

What types of buildings are affected by the regulation?

The regulation affects all buildings with central heating and district heating. This means that operators of multi-unit apartment buildings or office buildings, for example, should take action as soon as possible.
