The fastest way to a smart hospital: Cooperation

Designing a greenfield smart hospital is a challenge that is best tackled through cooperation. Kantonsspital Baden and Siemens work together to create one of Switzerland’s smartest hospitals using an open IoT platform from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.

A future-proof smart hospital

Modern hospitals must be versatile and flexible in order to offer patients the best possible care and employees optimum working conditions. To master this challenge, Kantonsspital Baden is building Switzerland’s first smart hospital. It is being developed in a partnership with Siemens that combines ideas, expertise, and smart technology from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to create customized solutions.

Working hand in hand to develop the best IoT solutions

Kantonsspital Baden is partnering with Siemens to master its digital transformation journey. In an ongoing co-creation process, two companies implement specific use cases in order to develop a smart hospital with a continuously growing range of functions. Real-time location services (RTLS) using more than 7,000 IoT sensors and 2,000 asset tags will help staff find medical equipment using an app. Likewise, an app-based navigation system makes it easier for patients and staff to find their way around the hospital campus.

Cutting-edge IoT solutions to prepare for the future

The healthcare sector faces ever rising challenges. The demand for healthcare services is increasing, as is the cost and efficiency pressure. Cooperating with Siemens helps Kantonsspital Baden make its operations more efficient and reduce the time pressure on staff. A navigation app for patients reduces wait times, increases the hospital’s treatment capacity, and improves the patient experience. The Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, the Desigo CC building management platform, Desigo Room Automation, and a comprehensive fire safety portfolio ensure sustainable, convenient, and safe operation.
