In line with our sustainability approach, the transformation of our corporate fleet represents an important milestone in a journey that has led to changes in behavior—both in how vehicles are used and in how trips are planned. We achieve a fully electric car list for all eligible company drivers in 2025.
‘Casa Siemens’ is part of one of the key pillars of Siemens’ Vision 2020 plan, which focuses on transforming the company into the first major industrial hub with zero emissions by 2030.
Italy is the leading country in Europe for biodiversity and the second in Europe for forest coverage: 9.6 million hectares of forests and 1.8 million hectares of other wooded areas cover 40% of Italian territory. However, the uncontrolled expansion of forests in Italy risks falling victim to the effects of climate change.For this reason, through our collaboration with zeroCO2, we have decided to support the development of two Italian agricultural cooperatives that adopt sustainable agronomic practices and provide opportunities for disadvantaged individuals.

The Bosco Siemens initiative includes the planting of 352 trees, specifically:
150 willows and 95 lindens at the agricultural cooperative La Piemontesina in Chivasso, Piedmont
50 wild cherry trees and 57 wild peach trees at the organic farm Podere Cimbalona Roncona in Faenza, Emilia-Romagna

Among the everyday sustainability initiatives aligned with our ESG priorities and the ambitious targets of the #DEGREE program, there is one project we have been involved in for over a year.
It is a biodiversity initiative developed with the expert beekeepers of Apicolturaurbana, which—on the occasion of Earth Day last April 19—brought 180,000 bees back to the Gardens of our Milan headquarters, Casa Siemens. These precious guests, with us since 2022, are essential pollinators that help contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

This year, the return of the bees was further enhanced by a hands‑on experience that some colleagues were able to enjoy—fully equipped with all the necessary protective gear—to get closer to the world of beekeeping.
Siemens hosts the AVIS mobile blood donation unit twice a year at its Milan headquarters—an initiative open to all our employees who choose to donate their blood.For Siemens, this is more than a community‑support blood donation campaign. Supporting AVIS also means contributing to the many projects carried out by the association, made possible thanks to the generosity and altruism of its volunteers.
Being truly sustainable means acting across the full spectrum—avoiding waste, promoting inclusion, and supporting the development of the communities where we operate.These principles are the foundation of a concrete sustainability initiative that Siemens Italy has been supporting for over a decade. Through the recovery of surplus food from our company canteen, we actively contribute to social inclusion and the development of local communities, fully aligned with the priorities of the DEGREE framework, particularly its focus on Equity.
This food policy and anti‑waste initiative stems from our long‑standing collaboration with our company canteen service provider, Pellegrini—partnership built on the sharing of key values. The proposal to join this initiative fits perfectly within the framework of this collaboration, and from the outset we recognized it as a virtuous and fully coherent extension of our approach.
From the very beginning, we informed employees of our participation through our internal company portal, and we immediately received positive feedback—both for the alignment with our value system and for the tangible way in which the initiative puts those values into practice.
More recently, we also joined the ZeroSprechi neighborhood hub network, a project highlighted in recent months at the event “Neighborhood Hubs Against Food Waste: From Pilot Project to a Successful Policy”, hosted by Assolombarda as part of the Milan Food Forum.
At Siemens S.p.A.’s Milan headquarters, four cigarette‑butt collection containers have been installed in the outdoor smoking areas. These containers are provided by RE-CIG, a company that develops innovative solutions for recycling this highly polluting type of waste. Cigarette butts—containing cellulose acetate, nicotine, and tar—are among the most difficult waste materials to manage and can take decades to decompose, causing significant environmental harm.Through this initiative, Siemens reduces pollution and recovers resources by entrusting RE‑CIG with the complete process of collection, treatment, recovery, and safe disposal. In addition, the project promotes awareness around proper waste management, contributing to circular economy practices and fostering long‑term sustainability.
