Partnerships with leading universities and institutes are indispensable for Siemens’ research and development activities. Open Innovation is therefore the key. With this in mind, Siemens launches over 1,000 research partnerships every year with universities, research institutes, and industrial partners all over the world.
Siemens can look back on a long tradition of academic collaboration and currently works with more than 600 universities in 70 countries around the world producing a significant innovation yield.
The benefits of Siemens‘ collaborative research programs and initiatives work both ways:
Siemens drives multiple worldwide collaboration partnerships on a project-specific base. In order to strengthen its innovation processes and enable Siemens business and research experts to engage with leading scientific networks, Siemens has set up two long-term strategic partnership programs with outstanding universities and research institutes world-wide.
Siemens currently focuses on eight CKI universities world-wide. Click here for more information on the CKI strategic university partners of Siemens: CKI Program
The Ambassador Program strengthens long-term collaboration with academic institutions that are of strategic importance for Siemens.
The Ambassador Program provides a cooperative environment open to research area, technology field, specific projects, recruitment activities, etc. Associated Siemens managers - known as "University Ambassadors" - drive the collaborative work together with their university counterparts throughout both organizations.
According to the collaboration topic, Siemens and the partner university can choose from a variety of cooperation models, such as contract research, joint research, PhD scholarship, research lab, expert lecturing, etc.
Siemens also focuses on remaining competitive in the recruiting market by targeting, developing and fostering university relations as a key recruiting tool. We stay in touch with university specific career centers, relevant faculties, professors and top students.
