Siemens continued to maintain its long-term business relationships with Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP), the world’s largest phosphate mining firm. Siemens has been active in Morocco for 56 years. In fiscal 2012 Siemens was awarded a contract by OCP to supply and install eight turbo compressors of four megawatts each by 2014.
In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), Siemens’ sales to customers in Morocco amounted to almost 94 EUR million, and new orders totaled nearly EUR 165 million. Siemens currently has around 250 employees in Morocco.
Founded in 1956 under the name Siemens Maroc SARL, the company was renamed Société Electrotechnique et de Télécommunications S.A. (SETEL) in 1973. On October 1, 2000, after a change in ownership structure that increased Siemens’ stake, the company was legally converted to a Siemens Regional Company operating under the name Siemens S.A. Today, Siemens in Morocco offers solutions tailored to individual customer requirements and maintains product management teams, project offices, workshops, laboratories and warehouses.
The Energy Sector received an order from Nareva Holding, a major company in Morocco’s energy and environmental segment, to supply wind turbines for two wind parks: Haouma (capacity: 50 megawatts) and Foum El Ouad (capacity: 50 megawatts). The two projects, which will provide Morocco with high-tech wind power, have a total value of EUR 98 million.
