The Siemens Rail Systems Division within the Infrastructure & Cities Sector is a leading international provider of rail vehicles and related services. Its headquarters are located in Berlin.
The Rail Systems portfolio comprises the entire spectrum of rolling stock – including railway trains, metros and locomotives and even streetcars and light rail systems. To this end, the Division smoothly combines its expertise in the fields of mass transit, mainline and logistics transportation in order to offer comprehensive know how for eco-friendly, efficient and reliable rail vehicles that are already in revenue service in more than 40 countries worldwide. According to expert forecasts, the international rolling stock market and the world market for related services will grow to more than € 80 billion by 2017.

Many Rail Systems products and solutions are integral parts of the Siemens environmental portfolio with which the company achieved revenue of approximately € 30 billion in fiscal 2011. Siemens is therefore the world's leading provider of eco-friendly technology. Sophisticated products and solutions enabled Siemens customers to save 320 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions during the same period. This huge amount corresponds to the total annual CO2 emissions produced by the cities of Hong Kong, London, New York, Tokyo, Delhi and Singapore combined.
Since October 1, 2012, Dr. Jochen Eickholt has been CEO of the Rail System Division. Dr Eickholt, who graduated with a PhD degree in electrical engineering, joined Siemens in 1999; in his previous position, he was head of the Business Unit “Rail Automation”.
