With Designcenter X Value Based Licensing, or token-licensing, all add-on modules for Designcenter X are in a "token pool." These add-on modules include capabilities that may not be included in the core capabilities of your core seat license. For example, Designcenter Immersive Explorer and Designcenter Immersive Designer are add-on modules that are exclusively available via token-licensing.
Accessing Designcenter X add-on modules with Designcenter X Value Based Licensing:
- Your company can purchase a fixed amount of tokens. These are floating licenses, so your whole team can share tokens. On our website, we sell Designcenter X Value Based Licensing in token-packs of 50.
- Each add-on module consumes a defined number of tokens while they are in use. Any named-user in your company can access and use any Designcenter X add-on module in the token pool, as long as you don't exceed the combined token count that you have purchased. Simply click on the desired application in Designcenter X to check-out the add-on module with tokens.
- When you exit Designcenter X or stop using an add-on module, the allotted amount of tokens returns to the total company pool. This creates a seamless check-in and check-out system.
An example of Designcenter X Value Based Licensing at work:
There’s a team creating the digital twin for a coffee machine. The team is comprised of four engineers, each having a named-user license for Designcenter X Design Standard plus a total of 100 tokens in the pool. Engineer one and two log on at 9:00am. The first engineer needs 17 tokens for Designcenter Draw Shape to add a coffee bean logo to the exterior, and needs two hours to complete the task. Engineer two needs to use Designcenter Algorithmic Modeling to create visual interest for the coffee bean hopper. Designcenter Algorithmic Modeling requires 25 tokens, and will take roughly two hours, leaving 58 tokens left in the token pool.
Engineer three needs to access Performance Predictor to analyze the performance of the coffee press mechanism. Although this will require 89 tokens from the pool, engineer one and two have completed their tasks, resulting in the tokens being added back to the pool. And finally, engineer four needs Animation Designer to create marketing collateral for the internal mechanism. This requires 24 tokens, but needs to be done after the Performance Predictor analysis is complete, meaning they can wait and access a fully stocked token pool.
