Integrated into Siemens' U.S. Electrification and Automation headquarters in Wendell, NC, the 1.25 MW microgrid combines solar generation and a 3.9 MWh battery energy storage system to deliver resilient, fully carbon-neutral operations.
In the event of a grid outage, the microgrid automatically transitions to island mode, maintaining full power to production operations and helping deliver approximately $450,000 in annual resilience-related savings.

As the largest solar + storage industrial microgrid on Duke Energy’s distribution network in the Carolinas, the project sets a new standard for resilient, sustainable power amid rising demand.
