3D-i-GeneralTol (FKZ 03TN0057A) - 3D Modeling with Implicit General Tolerances based on DIN ISO 2768-1/2, or DIN 2769 for the Further Development of ISO 22081 - 3D-i-GeneralTol
Duration: October 1, 2023 - September 30, 2025
Siemens AG (SAG), Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG (SE), and Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) have joined forces to facilitate the continuous introduction of a forward-looking, 3D-based, digital working method in German industry. For this purpose, a standardized convention is to be developed that allows tolerated surfaces to be determined directly from 3D CAD geometry models, without the need to explicitly specify dimensions and form. This convention complements and simplifies the application of the existing GPS standard system (ISO 16792, ISO 22081), especially for functionally/technologically subordinate geometric elements. By embedding it into the existing and industry-wide accepted GPS standard system, the use of the new standard will be ensured. The proven idea of general tolerances/free dimensions is extended such that these tolerance specifications can also be applied directly in the 3D CAD model for undimensioned and untoleranced geometric elements, thereby enabling significant time savings.
