Careers Electric™

Building a workforce to meet the nation’s accelerating electrification needs.

The Siemens Foundation has launched Careers Electric™, a national initiative to expand access to high quality electrical training and create clear pathways into well-paying, in demand electrical careers. Designed to meet the nation’s accelerating electrification needs, Careers Electric™ equips students and workers with the technical, digital, and safety skills required across today’s rapidly evolving energy and infrastructure sectors. The initiative aims to train 25,000 people in its first 10 years through a modern, scalable approach that prepares the skilled electrical professionals essential to powering America’s future.

The North Carolina Business Committee for Education (NCBCE) is a business-led education and workforce nonprofit organization based in the office of the Governor of North Carolina. NCBCE has been called the state’s workforce connector, as it brings together employers, state and local policy makers, local education systems, local workforce boards, and local community partners to prepare communities to meet workforce demands.

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) is a collaboration of automakers, unions, utilities, Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment manufacturers, safety and electrical professionals, and educational staff who deliver comprehensive training and certification to reflect the quickly evolving EV industry. These partnerships allow EVITP to stay ahead of industry trends and to provide support and outreach at the national and local levels.

Through its partnership with the Siemens Foundation, the Families and Workers Fund is identifying and supporting EV charging workforce programs across the country and providing funding for services to help overcome common barriers for career success including equipment and uniforms, childcare, transportation, affordable housing, and mental health support.

The North Carolina Community College System (NC Community Colleges or System) is the engine for workforce development in North Carolina and the only public entity dedicated to providing affordable college access to anyone in the state. The System is governed by the NC State Board of Community Colleges with administration from the NC Community College System Office, and support from the NC Community Colleges Foundation, and is powered by the 58 community colleges and their respective foundations. Together, the System serves 600,000 students and awards more than 60,000 degrees, diplomas, and certificates annually.

Wake Tech is North Carolina's largest community college, serving more than 72,000 students annually, with seven campuses, a training center and a comprehensive array of online learning options. Wake Tech is accredited and offers more than 250 associate degree, diploma and certificate programs that prepare students for university transfer or immediate employment. The college also offers short-term, non-degree programs in IT, health care, hospitality, public safety, skilled trades and more. Non-degree programs include small business support, customized corporate training and basic skills courses such as English as a Second Language and high school equivalency preparation.
