In fiscal 2011 (October 1, 2010 - September 30, 2011), Siemens’ sales to customers in Austria amounted to EUR 1.474 billion and new orders totaled EUR 1.102 billion. Siemens Austria currently has a workforce of around 12,250, making it one of the country’s most important employers.

Siemens Austria received the general contract to supply the main components for the country’s largest thermal power plant, in Mellach (Styria). Test runs began this year for the project, the largest single contract in the history of Siemens Austria. The patient care module for the i.s.h.med hospital information system is being used in the Hartberg (Styria) State Hospital for the first time to support the entire patient care process in a way that meets international quality standards. The Graz plant received orders for bogies to be used in up to 300 long-distance trains operated by Deutsche Bahn, the German national railway, and in 240 Desiro regional trains in Russia.
