High-pressure water mist technology is an advanced fire suppression method that uses extremely fine water droplets to control and extinguish fires rapidly and efficiently. Generated under high pressure and discharged through specialized nozzles, these microdroplets typically range from 10 to 200 microns in size.
The defining characteristic of high-pressure water mist lies in the droplets’ high surface area relative to their mass. This enables them to absorb large amounts of heat when exposed to fire. As a result, the droplets evaporate almost instantly, expanding into steam and cooling the surrounding environment.
This process tackles two key elements of the fire triangle: heat and oxygen. The rapid cooling effect lowers the fire temperature, while the evaporation process displaces oxygen locally at the fire source, helping to suppress combustion.
At the same time, high-pressure water mist systems achieve effective fire suppression with significantly less water than traditional water-based systems. This minimizes water damage, reduces downtime and supports more sustainable fire protection solutions.
