Role overview

It starts with you

In Research & Development, you’re the one who’ll decide what we create next. Whether it’s designing street lamps that help people find parking spaces or making the next breakthrough in renewable energy, the future is in your hands.

Research and development careers

I'm delighted by the sparkle in the eyes of my colleagues when I talk to them about their projects and ideas. Because I know that Siemens has the resources to make them reality.

Our Research & Development team helps us make tomorrow possible

We have plenty planned for the future: electric superhighways, digital factories and energy-efficient smart grids. What we want to know is: what's next? If you’re excited to design, develop and test the prototypes of tomorrow, let’s chat.

Day-to-day life

The people behind our next big idea

Research and development is no easy task. That’s why it requires the smartest minds around.

R&D at Siemens 1

Ross Westwood

Graduate R&D Engineer, UK

“Research and Development is all about asking questions, having the ability to look at a situation and work out the best way to move forward. I’m currently producing capability statements for different generator types. It’s really interesting as new challenges and questions arise that involve re-evaluating the problem in order to provide the most accurate information. R&D is exciting because you never know when a new breakthrough will be made which will change the world we live in.”

R&D at Siemens 2

Isabelle Ascah Coallier

Software Engineer, UK

“With 3D printers becoming more available, anyone can design and generate a prototype. But by improving our own software, the only limit architects, designers and engineers will have when using a CAD/CAE system is their own creativity and not the limitation of the software itself.”

Engineering at Siemens 3

Ore Oluwatudimu

Product Engineer, UK

“The best thing about being an engineer is the scope of things you get to be involved with. When people look at the little bits of kit they play with, they don’t realize just how complicated that little thing is and how much work and effort has gone into it. I think it’s very cool having that level of understanding about how it works and the work that’s involved creating it.”
