Siemens is a major employer across the North of England with ten significant facilities in the region, employing over 6,000 people. From the manufacture of variable speed drives in Cheshire, to the production of gas turbines in Newcastle, as well as the development of the UK’s first wind turbine blade manufacturing facility in Hull - we are at the heart of a productive and highly skilled region.

We have recently announced plans to establish a new state-of-the-art factory to manufacture and commission trains in Goole and we are investing in the North’s graduate and Research & Development capacity too. We recently opened three digital innovation labs at the University of Lincoln, Newcastle University and the University of Sheffield. The MindSphere Innovation Network will help digitalise University assets and prepare regional graduates with new skills.

Siemens also partners with other educational providers across the region including the University of Manchester, University of Salford, Trafford College and University Technical Colleges in Sheffield, Hull and Crewe.

Siemens understands the strong heritage of the North of England and feels proud that we can invest in and contribute to the economic success of the region now and in the future.

We are excited about our partnership with Great Exhibition of the North and look forward to sharing details of our activities in the region.

Get North Careers

To help support and inspire young people to understand the careers and pathways that are open to them, an interactive map of the North has been created. This will showcase short films featuring early career individuals talking about their career, the choices they made in relation to study/pathway and what they enjoy about their role.

Tim Waugh, one of our Manchester employees was interviewed, watch the video and find out how he started his career.
