Meet Alexandre Onca

Alex's extensive experience in substation automation and cybersecurity, gained from his work in Brazil, Germany, and the U.S., makes him a highly qualified instructor.

He has specialized in SICAM and SIPROTEC systems, led R&D projects to improve asset management solutions, and conducted cybersecurity trainings internationally.

Currently, he teaches courses in Telecontrol and Automation Fundamentals, SICAM, and Cyber Security, drawing from his deep technical expertise and global experience.

Meet Dave Simmons

Dave Simmons has 30 years of experience in Power Electronics Manufacturing, primarily as a Product Manager. His transition to Corporate Product Training over the past five years, combined with his master's degree in Adult Education and background in Electrical Engineering, gives him a unique and valuable perspective on training development.

Dave’s extensive industry experience, including his time with ABB/Thomas and Betts, and his active role as a Senior Member of the IEEE, further solidify his expertise. His international experience and deep passion for technology make him an exceptional instructor.

Dave's courses primarily focus on low-voltage and medium-voltage products.

Meet Guilherme de Mattos Pinto

Guilherme is an expert in Power System Protection with extensive experience in commissioning High Voltage Protection Systems and in training a diverse group of students. Additionally, he has specialized in the logical design of Substation Protection and Automation systems.

Guilherme is highly skilled with Siemens SIPROTEC 5 relays and devices from other vendors, which allows him to make complex concepts accessible to his students.

His courses at Power Academy cover a wide range of topics, from foundational concepts in protection and automation to more intricate subjects like testing relays with secondary test equipment and the equipment specific protection schemes. His courses also address the protection of lines, transformers, and busbars. Guilherme also offers thorough explanations of the advanced IEC-61850 Process Bus Systems.
