Virtually every type of rail vehicle, from locomotives to complete trains, trams and subways, is tested at the Wegberg-Wildenrath site. This is because it is home to one of the world’s largest and most modern testing centres for rail vehicles: the Siemens Mobility Test and Validation Centre (PCW). For almost 30 years, over 700 highly qualified experts have maintained the highest quality standards and ensured long-term success.
The PCW is a powerful partner for the comprehensive testing, validation and certification of rail vehicles and systems. The site also offers extensive repair and modernisation services.
The versatile infrastructure enables testing under realistic operating conditions, independently of the public rail network, 365 days a year. Virtually all systems, from standard vehicles to narrow-gauge trains and individual components, can be tested efficiently and flexibly. The site also offers tests for fully automated driving under the strict safety supervision of ETCS.
The Wegberg-Wildenrath infrastructure is available not only to Siemens Mobility, but also to external manufacturers. Around 10% of the vehicles tested are from competitors.
