Decarbonization

A largely CO₂-free economy is a key issue for the future for all of us, from industrial companies to municipal utilities. Volatile energy prices, rising CO₂ prices and fluctuating energy sources: The energy landscape is becoming more complex and economical operation increasingly challenging.

Decarbonization: The most effective measure against climate change

Companies need to become CO₂-neutral while remaining successful and competitive. Such a sustainable transformation can only succeed on the basis of strategic and long-term planning. A well-thought-out decarbonization strategy, in which all measures are coordinated with each other, helps. We support the decarbonization of your company with individual solutions that both reduce your CO₂ emissions and optimize energy costs.

Decarbonization study - your first step towards a sustainable future

We offer energy-intensive companies the creation of an individual decarbonization study including the following services:

  • Data collection and preparation of a CO₂ balance sheet,
  • Presentation and simulation of possible solutions,
  • Action plan for achieving targets

We are also happy to support you in preparing the funding application. The study is funded by the Federal Funding for Energy and Resource Efficiency in the Economy, Module 5: Transformation Plans from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.

Four steps to a CO₂-neutral company

Systematic decarbonisation takes place in a clearly structured four-stage process. The starting point is the first stage, which focuses on reducing energy consumption through targeted energy efficiency measures. This fundamental optimisation creates the basis for all further steps.

The second stage focuses on establishing a local energy supply using renewable energies. This step is crucial for the transformation to a sustainable energy supply.

The third stage is dedicated to comprehensive electrification. This involves converting both processes and mobility to electric operation. This conversion is an essential building block on the path to climate neutrality.

The fourth and final stage involves the procurement of renewable primary energies, supplemented by measures in the area of certificate trading and compensation. This final stage serves to optimise and offset remaining emissions.

The core of this long-term decarbonisation strategy is based on two main pillars: firstly, the actual reduction of CO₂ emissions through continuous improvement in energy efficiency, and secondly, the consistent expansion and use of renewable energies.

Our solutions - How we support the decarbonization of your company

"The best kilowatt hour is the one you don't use" is the motto for successful decarbonization. We work with you to reduce your carbon footprint and minimize your company's energy costs. The initial focus is on reducing energy consumption through energy efficiency measures. We then look at the local energy supply with renewable energies, whereby green electricity or biomethane as a renewable energy source helps to make energy requirements CO₂-neutral. The electrification of processes, heat and mobility, which are often still based on fossil fuels, offers great potential. Emissions that cannot be avoided can be offset in the final step with climate protection projects or certificate trading. The overall process is supported by making your technical systems more flexible in order to implement decarbonization economically.
