At present, about three and a half million people work in the technology sector, of whom 34 percent are women, according to the State of European Tech report by the investment company Atomico. The authors of the report note that compared to 2015, the percentage of women in these professions has decreased by 1 percentage point, which means that the share of women in the technology sector is steadily declining.

The presence of women in engineering positions is also worryingly low, as they represent only 5 percent of specialists dealing with technological aspects within companies. By comparison, their share is significantly higher in areas such as marketing.

Another significant issue is the pay gap. In engineering professions, women earn on average 5 percent less than men, while in the financial sector this difference amounts to 3.5 percent.

The Engineers 4.0 program is addressed to young women who want to enhance their competences in the area of Industry 4.0. The workshops organized within the program help ambitious students enter the world of innovation, technology and business, and establish contacts with experts and representatives of other technical universities.
