SIMATIC S7-1500 R/H is a redundant, high-availability CPU system designed to maximize plant availability. By synchronizing a backup CPU with the primary one, it ensures no data is lost during an outage, preventing costly production standstills. Its unique value lies in its system-integrated synchronization and project consistency, requiring no special knowledge for engineering in the TIA Portal. The IO periphery is connected to the primary and backup CPU either as switched S1 or S2 device via a PROFINET ring with MRP for R-CPUs and R1, switched S1 or S2 device via any PROFINET structure for H-CPUs. Maximum distance between CPUs can be ~ 100 m for R-CPUs and up to 40 km for H-CPUs.
Scalable switchover time
Redundant and high-availability CPU pairs are connected either with PROFINET or with synchronization modules and fiber-optic cable to allow a fail-over time of 300 ms or 50 ms.
