Why Self-Optimizing Grid?

The power distribution grid faces challenges from aging infrastructure, distributed generation, fluctuating peak times and prosumers producing energy. The Self Optimizing Grid is a smart and innovative solution that combines automation and decentralized applications to monitor and control the grid remotely. It enhances reliability and availability, improves efficiency and allows distribution system operators to optimize key performance indicators. Flexible and modular, it integrates centralized, semi-decentralized and decentralized levels of the grid depending on needs.

Self-healing

Detect and isolate faults quickly, close normally open points and restore power automatically. Supports standardized protocols and enables secure, reliable operation of primary equipment.

Load Management

Automatically reconfigure feeders and transfer critical loads to alternate sources. Avoids overloads, minimizes outages and connects segments with the largest available capacity.

Area voltage control

Monitor and regulate voltage levels using multiple secondary substations. Maintain voltage within defined ranges, reduce expansion costs and improve energy management and planning.

Overload Reduction

Overload reduction is used to cut overloads on lines, transformers and switches and to reduce the unsupplied region to a minimum. It is used in radial grid structures where loads cannot be transferred, or in open ring structures where the interconnected ring is not able to take additional load.
