More about the CO2 Performance Ladder
The CO2 Performance Ladder is a management system of the SKAO (Foundation Climate-Friendly Procurement & Business). Additional information can be found on the SKAO website.
The CO₂ Performance Ladder is a certification system that encourages companies to reduce their CO₂ emissions. It is designed to provide companies with insight into their energy consumption and CO₂ footprint, and to help them formulate and achieve concrete reduction targets. Handbook 4.0 of the ladder has three levels, with higher levels requiring deeper insight and greater ambition for energy and CO₂ reduction. This includes supply chain involvement and transparent communication.
Companies certified on the CO₂ Performance Ladder may receive a bidding advantage in tenders.
On this page, you will find all documentation regarding our certificate.
In 2025, we implemented a CO₂ and energy management system in line with the CO₂ Performance Ladder. Our base year is fiscal year 2024, which ran from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024, but we have already reported CO₂ data from 2019 in our corporate sustainability report.
We recognize the urgency of climate protection. It is our top priority to contribute to the goals of the Paris Agreement. As a global technology company, we recognize that our activities along the value chain generate greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e emissions). This contributes to a global temperature increase and other irreversible changes to our planet and our ecosystems.
We are committed to helping mitigate climate change. At the same time, we assess climate-related risks and opportunities and potential measures to adapt to climate change, in order to ensure business continuity and functioning supply chains.
Our goal: we are aiming for net-zero
With our science-based net-zero target, validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), we demonstrate our commitment to aligning our business activities with the 1.5°C decarbonization pathway.
We commit to...
You will find these, and our other commitments, in our Policy Statement.
* The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks
Below you will find the emission inventory for Siemens NV and Siemens Mobility NV with a detailed breakdown of our energy flows and CO2 emissions.
In the document below you will find a detailed description of the organizational boundaries for the current certificate.
In this plan, we show – omitting confidential details – how we intend to concretely achieve our decarbonization and energy objectives.
In our progress reports, we present the progress in our decarbonization policy year after year.
In this document, we provide an overview of chain collaborations we undertake to achieve our decarbonization and energy goals.
