In Saudi Arabia, for Saudi Arabia
Making real what matters
To learn how we can work with this great nation along its ambitious and visionary transformation journey, we continuously focus on what matters most to its people.
Business to Society
A partner today, tomorrow and beyond
Our relationship with the Arabian Peninsula dates back to the mid 1800s when Werner von Siemens personally led a team to lay telegraphic cables under the Red Sea. In the 1930s, the first business transaction took place in Saudi Arabia, when visionary local businessmen first imported Siemens power generation equipment to the Kingdom. The initial investment laid the foundation for the sophisticated power infrastructure found today in the Kingdom.
Siemens sent its first resident engineer to Saudi Arabia in 1952 to better serve the company’s rapidly growing customer base here. A few years later, E.A. Juffali & Brothers Co. and Siemens AG started their cooperation, which is still the cornerstone of a successful partnership with a modern day joint venture. Today, with almost 2,000 employees, along with E.A. Juffali & Brothers as a strong local partner, we continue to deliver on our pledge to holistically drive socio-economic development in Saudi Arabia.
We are committed more than ever to improving the quality of everyday life and contributing to the prosperity of the Kingdom.
What is important to Saudi Arabia, matters to Siemens.
Who we are
What matters to Saudi Arabia?
Saudi Arabia is a pioneering and successful nation with a clear vision of its future. The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 highlights the objective to transform into a ‘global investment powerhouse’ with a diverse economy that leverages its geographic location to become a strategic global hub that connects three continent – Asia, Europe and Africa. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seeks to ensure long-term prosperity for everyone by providing excellent education, world class healthcare, a diversified and flexible knowledge-based economy, a high quality of life, sustainable environment, and a strong appetite for innovation and entrepreneurship.
To make real what matters to Saudi Arabia, we assessed our value to the Kingdom’s society from an outside-in perspective. We started by identifying what matters to the Kingdom and its people in terms of economic growth, development of human capital, innovation, environmental protection and quality of life.
The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 represents the ambitious determination of transforming the nation economically and socially. We sincerely believe that Vision 2030 is one of the most significant milestones in the Kingdom’s contemporary history since the discovery of oil. Siemens and its more than 2,000 employees in the Kingdom will actively support Vision 2030, through localization, innovation and global partnership.
The B2S methodology
Our contribution to the sustainable development of the Kingdom
Offering solutions along the electrification, automation and digitalization value chains, Siemens has been contributing to the economic and social development of KSA for almost a century. We are a long-term partner to Saudi Arabia and are here to stay. Our purpose is to serve society, and that means looking beyond the bottom line of commercial activities and understanding how our solutions and activities create sustainable value for all stakeholders. That is how we make real what matters to the people of this great nation. Our company’s founder, Werner von Siemens, would have called this inventiveness. Today we call it “Ingenuity for life.”
Taking responsibility for society and future generations is what I understand under Business to Society, and it is what justifies the existence of companies.
