Low-voltage asynchronous and drive motors outsourcing

2023.05.31.

Reorganization of low- and medium-voltage electric asynchronous motors, geared asynchronous motors, and medium-voltage drives into a new company

Information

We hereby inform you of Siemens AG's decision to reorganize its low- and medium-voltage electric asynchronous motors, geared asynchronous motors, and medium-voltage drives business into a newly founded company operating as an independent legal entity.

The aim of this change is to create a high value-added independent company combining the above areas under one brand by the end of the 2023 financial year.

The resulting company will maintain its position in the global market in the market segment of electric asynchronous motors, geared asynchronous motors and medium-voltage drives, combining the strengths of the sub-areas, creating technological and manufacturing synergies, and leveraging the advantages of complementary sales channels.

The new company, Innomotics, will operate as a legally separate subsidiary wholly owned by Siemens AG. The majority of the outsourcing process (i.e., the transfer of the business) is expected to be completed by October 1, 2023.

As a newly founded, strong company, Innomotics has a sales volume of around €3 billion and employs approximately 15,000 people worldwide.

The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of low- and medium-voltage asynchronous motors, medium-voltage converters, and geared asynchronous motors, complemented by innovative solutions from its digitalization portfolio and related services.

The above portfolio includes low-voltage asynchronous motors (1LE*, 1MB*), geared asynchronous motors (2KJ*), and medium-voltage motors and frequency converters.

By combining the strengths of the individual business areas – from development and manufacturing to services – significant new value is created, which further guarantees the future success of the new company.

Siemens Digital Industries – Motion Control business unit

The Motion Control business unit will remain an integral part of Siemens Digital Industries, continuing its activities as a leading innovative technology manufacturer in the global market in the field of intelligent motion control. • digital drive chain solutions
  • machine tool control systems
