Supply Chain Management

Purchasing and logistics make a decisive contribution to the success of Siemens Austria.

Purchasing and logistics in Austria

Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the competence center for purchasing and logistics and thus the division that performs these tasks for Siemens AG Austria. In exercising its corporate management function for all procurement issues, SCM has the authority to issue guidelines for the enforcement of existing legal requirements and internal Siemens regulations for the field of purchasing.

SCM ensures the continuous development of the purchasing and logistics functions as well as the optimization of procurement processes through the initiation and implementation of corporate programs.

Purchasing within Siemens AG Austria is organized as a network and integrates the global purchasing departments. High-volume materials are bundled, purchased worldwide and negotiated throughout the Group. This makes a significant contribution to achieving and maintaining the competitiveness of the Siemens business units.

The most important means of enforcing fair and ecologically responsible production conditions that are committed to basic ethical and moral values is the purchasing behaviour of consumers and customers. Siemens AG Austria's third-party purchasing volume amounted to €1.2 billion in the past fiscal year and was generated by around 10,200 suppliers. Of these, about 6,200 business partners come from Austria. These are selected and evaluated on the basis of a holistically integrated supplier management system.
