Our Mobile and Remote Monitoring Services make condition-based maintenance a reality. This greatly expands the range of opportunities offered by normal machine protection. Condition Monitoring maximizes plant availability and keeps lifecycle costs to a minimum since the service life of critical machine components can be used to the full extent. The necessary maintenance measures can be coordinated at the same time as the production plan. With Gear Unit Condition Monitoring we are offering you an extensive portfolio with standardized and individual solutions for any plant size.


Mobile Services offer a flexible and cost-effective solution for both standard and application-specific gear units. Measurements are carried out using hand-held devices on site by Siemens service professionals at regular intervals or when required e.g. in troubleshooting cases. Our skilled team of experts carries out data evaluation and diagnosis.


Remote Monitoring Service means you no longer need your own specialized staff on site. The measurement data is continuously sent to our Expert Centre via secure channels where a qualified diagnosis is performed. Our remote monitoring Service portfolio includes:

  • Remote Monitoring Service for standard gear units covering a wide range of standard applications including drives for belt conveyors, bucket elevators, compressors, pumps, water turbines and many others
  • Remote Monitoring Service for application gear units including gear units for tube and vertical roller mills as well as planetary and extruder drives
  • Torque Monitoring is offered for all gear unit types either independently or as an add-on option to vibration-based analysis

Drive components such as motors are often exposed to extreme stresses and are constantly subject to varying levels of wear and tear, depending on their length of service and the loads placed on them. The strains can often remain invisible to the naked eye for quite some time, leading to outages and unplanned downtimes which imply high financial losses. It is therefore vital to be able to correctly assess component status at all times. By continuously monitoring the motors, changes in their operating status can be identified at an early stage as part of the Motor Condition Monitoring process, and the appropriate countermeasures can be introduced.

Service Energy Performance Contracting for drive applications finances your optimization measures from the savings you make in power costs. The projects are structured to ensure that only a part of the savings are used for the service component and the balance of the saving remains as a direct benefit for you. The projects are implemented in a four-step process with low risk for our customers thanks to the promised savings: 

  1. Evaluation of  drive applications based on existing data. Our specialists propose a package of measures coupled with the projected savings.
  2. Analysis of the selected measures based on a provisional agreement. Detailed energy use measurements are used as the basis for precisely determining the baseline and engineering the measures. If it becomes apparent during the concept development phase that the promised cost savings cannot be achieved, you may terminate the project at no cost.
  3. Implementing of optimization measures. Upon acceptance of the project, the actual savings will be measured and compared with the baseline from the concept. If the agreed goals are reached, the promised savings have been achieved. Otherwise, Siemens will compensate the customer. 
  4. As part of this service, new energy savings are verified regularly and the drive systems are maintained to ensure the savings continue in the future.
