The product services the 10 – 15 MW power band and can be used in all climates, onshore and offshore.     Highlights of the SGT-400 gas turbine

    The SGT-400 has a proven design for maximum availability and power supply reliability. With over 15 years of operating experience, the SGT-400 is successful in both offshore and onshore applications.

    The SGT-400 is ideal for offshore oil and gas applications due to its compact dimensions, on-site or off-site maintainability, and high reliability.

    The SGT-400 is suitable for on-site maintenance. Furthermore it offers the option of rapid core turbine exchange to minimize downtime.

    The twin-shaft design offers you the advantages of less starting power requirements, excellent speed and load turndown characteristics, as well as a good part-load efficiency.
    The twin-shaft arrangement of the SGT-400 for both power generation and mechanical drive ensures commonality of parts in mixed-duty installations.

    The SGT-400 can be used for a wide variety of power generation applications, including:
    - Simple cycle applications
    - Combined cycle applications
    - Combined heat and power (CHP)
    - Power generation for the oil and gas industry; e.g., onshore for use in oil fields or refinery applications and offshore on platforms and FPSO vessels

    The SGT-400 is a proven drive solution in the oil and gas industry, for example as a compressor or pump drive – both onshore and offshore.  With its turbine speed range from 4,800 to 10,000 rpm, it can be used as a direct compressor drive without applying an intermediate gearbox.
    The gas turbine is designed for variable-speed applications and loads and is suitable for a wide range of requirements.

    Ingenious design to the core

    The SGT-400's twin-shaft design permits excellent speed and load turndown flexibility.
    The simple design consists of a 2-bearing gas generator rotor with an 11-stage axial flow transonic compressor, and a 2-stage overhung compressor turbine. The SGT-400 free power turbine also has a robust 2-stage, overhung design.

    The rotors are contained in heavy-duty casings which are horizontally and vertically split, so you can carry out maintenance on-site. The compressor uses variable guide vanes for robust operability and optimized performance across a range of operating conditions.

    The gas turbine is equipped with a Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustion system, which achieves low NOₓ emissions with both gaseous and liquid fuels.

     

     

    SGT-400 packages

    The compact SGT-400 gas turbine packages for power generation and mechanical drive applications are equipped with factory-tested modules, and offer a high power-to-weight ratio. The packages consist of gas turbine, gearbox, driven unit and all factory-tested fluid modules, mounted on an underbase, which are easily transported, installed and maintained on site.

    The shop-tested and certified fluid system modules are common for all SGT-400 gas turbine packages and come fully wired into the package control systems:

    • Auto drains module
    • Gas fuel module
    • Lube oil module
    • Liquid fuel module (optional)

     

     

    Suitable for offshore oil and gas applications

    The SGT-400 is an ideal offshore gas turbine.

    It can be used: 
    - for offshore power generation, e.g., on oil platforms and FPSO vessels
    - as a drive solution for pumps, e.g., for water injection in oil production, in crude oil processing and for the transport of refinery products via pipelines
    - as a drive solution for compressors for gas injection, to increase pressure in pipelines and in natural gas processing

    Siemens delivered two SGT-400 power generation units to power the water injection system on the FPSO vessel "Cidade de Itajai", which operates at the Tiro and Sidon fields located in the southern part of the Santos Basin off the coast of Brazil.

    Covering a wide Wobbe range

    The SGT-400 operates on a wide range of gases, including gaseous fuels outside of standard pipeline quality.

    It covers a Wobbe fuel range from approximately 50 MJ/m³ to 17.5 MJ/m³, which includes, e.g., fuels available in LNG liquefaction plants, wellhead gas and minimally processed weak wellhead gas, coke oven gas, biogas from ethanol industry waste, or landfill gas.
    The SGT-400 is also able to burn distillate liquid fuels and offers dual-fuel DLE capability, with automatic changeover from primary to secondary fuel at any load.

     

     

    Low emissions despite a rugged industrial design

    The well-proven and reliable Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustor offers clean combustion with low emissions over a wide operating range.

    The SGT-400 uses six reverse-flow tubular combustion chambers positioned around a high-pressure casing. Each burner contains its own ignition source and is capable of gas-only, liquid-only or dual-fuel operation. The fuel is controlled by both a pilot and main burner, with the control system ensuring smooth changeover across the power range.
    With the DLE combustion system, you will comply with emission regulations even at lower operating loads down to 50% or lower.
