For first-hand information on the latest trends in building technology for the life science industries, visit us at booth 7 of the leading conference on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in laboratories and related facilities.
Biocontainment poses unique challenges for building management that aren’t typically found in normal commercial installations: In order to safely work with select agents or manufacture vaccines, protect employees and animals or prevent the release of pathogens to the outside environment, strict quality control is required throughout the complete lifecycle of the facility – from building design to commissioning and during ongoing operations. Choosing the right building automation partner who is willing to make a long-term commitment can make all the difference between your business’s failure and success.
As the only major controls manufacturer that offers a complete laboratory solution, we are willing to make that commitment. With our integrated systems covering the whole spectrum of containment requirements for BSL-3 and BSL-4 facilities, you can leverage our extensive experience in supplying some of the largest such facilities in the world with comprehensive solutions for building automation, life safety and access control, as well as ongoing maintenance services. To address the site-specific biological hazards at your facility, we precisely tailor these systems and services to your exact requirements and carefully evaluate and test all applications in a mock-up lab prior to commissioning. And once in operation, you’ll benefit from on-going support and integrated compliance solutions to make sure your facility continues to fulfil its role in the best way it possibly can.
Our extensive portfolio of building management systems for biocontainment includes standardized solutions for all application scenarios. Through comprehensive integration of all components, we combine these systems into single solutions that meet the specific requirements of each facility. Explore our products below for further information.
Our intelligent evacuation systems are activated automatically in case of an incident and can be configured both for live voice announcements and playback of pre-recorded messages. Clear instructions and descriptions of the emergency situation enable the people inside the building to evacuate the danger area quickly and orderly. This effectively prevents the outbreak of panic in hazardous situations.
Our S-LINE fire detectors are equipped with our uniquely intelligent ASAtechnology, which allows exceptionally precise and rapid fire detection and alarming. Aspirating smoke detection ensures earliest possible detection even if air flows or air conditioning and ventilation systems prevent smoke from reaching the fire detectors.
With Sinorix™, we offer a fire suppression solution that is ideally suited to the fire risks in biocontainment facilities. Sinorix™ provides quick and reliable extinguishing for a wide variety of fire types. The solutions are tailored to your individual needs to maximize business continuity and provide optimal protection of people, environment, processes, and assets.
Our access control solutions centrally record user activities and provide a clear overview of all persons present. They combine information from the access control server, personnel files, plant and maintenance data as well as access history in real time to decide whether a person will be allowed to access a certain area at a certain time.
Our Airlock Interlocking System (AIS) is an integrated airlock control based on standard building automation controllers. The entire system operates autonomously and can be quickly and flexibly adapted to individual requirements. Thanks to the integration with other building management systems, it offers advanced features such as locking by the gas detection technology and dynamic adjustment of purge times. Integrated access control enables the reliable management of people flow.
To minimize the risk of cross-contamination by people, processes and equipment, our solutions help your employees and visitors follow adequate, pre-defined procedures. Sophisticated consequential processes help you reliably control and manage physical access to restricted zones.
Our Critical Environment Technology (CET) enables the safe, precise and fast measurement, control and monitoring of air volume flows and room pressures in buildings. CET uses open-standard interfaces and can be easily integrated into building automation systems for highest levels of efficiency, cost-effectiveness, safety and security in:
The reliable monitoring of room conditions and airborne particles in critical environments is possible with our Compact Monitoring Technology (CMT). With CMT, you can monitor, store and document up to 100 GMP-relevant environmental parameters – whether temperature, humidity, air velocity, air pressure and particles or access to quarantine areas or highly sensitive medical systems like thrombocyte separators. All necessary components for data acquisition, visualization and archiving are contained in a pre-configured control cabinet. It can be operated via the optional integrated touch panel or from a networked PC, as well as linked to other monitoring systems such as airlock controls or presence detectors.
Reliably controlling and monitoring ventilation and air conditioning parameters has been one of our core competencies for many decades. With our tailored solutions, you profit from minimized installation and operating costs as well as a high level of security against failure. Our HVAC portfolio includes exact, modulating magnetic valves for drop-by-drop precise control, dynamic pressure and volume flow controls as well as calibrated humidity and temperature sensors. All of these products combine quality and reliability with the highest possible energy efficiency.
Our modern security systems meet the complete range of security requirements and can be installed in any desired configuration. Through integration of intrusion detection with other security disciplines such as video surveillance or access control, we help you increase security while saving costs at the same time.
Our solutions for integrating airborne particle measurement not only monitor and analyze measured values from all channels but also use this information to dynamically adjust air flow rates to substantially reduce energy costs.
Our video surveillance systems reliably monitor sensitive areas and record all processes before and after an event. If a critical deviation such as an unauthorized person is detected, an alarm is transmitted to the control center automatically as well as the camera in the relevant area activated.
We support you in developing a comprehensive life safety solution. Our solutions immediately detect the danger and trigger the fire alarm as well as the extinguishing process right away – before the fire can spread.
Thanks to intelligent ASAtechnology, Sinteso™ S-LINE fire detectors provide exceptionally precise and rapid fire detection and alarming. If air flows or air conditioning and ventilation systems prevent smoke from reaching the fire detectors, aspirating smoke detectors ensure earliest possible detection.
Emergency Voice Communication
In case of an event, the intelligent evacuation systems from Siemens ensure clear voice announcements and description of the emergency situation and clear instructions on how to proceed for quick and orderly evacuation of the danger area – and prevent outbreak of panic.
Comprehensive security solutions provide a secure environment to protect staff, assets and research work. Integrated systems provides a single point of control to monitor the entire facility for intrusions, security breaches and internal personnel traffic.
The video surveillance system monitors sensitive areas and records the processes before and after an event. If the system detects a critical deviation, such as unauthorized persons, it automatically transmits an alarm to the control center and activates the camera in the relevant area.
Modern security systems must satisfy a broad range of security requirements and allow installation in a variety of configurations. By combining intrusion detection systems with other security disciplines such as video surveillance or access control, we help you to increase your security while at the same time saving costs.
Heating, air conditioning and ventilation technology account for up to 70% of the total energy costs for cleanrooms. Consequently, the only way to lower energy costs is to optimize these systems. Our solutions provide such functions as the control of air exchange rates based on particle concentration, the detection of necessary overflow and dynamic adaptation of control to the processes.
Exact, modulating magnetic valves for drop-by-drop precise control, room pressure and volume flow controls as well as calibrated humidity and temperature sensors are just a few examples. High product quality and reliability are combined with highest possible energy efficiency when operating a building’s largest energy consumers.
Only buildings with highly integrated building automation systems can qualify for energy efficiency class A. The integrated solutions from Siemens offer the best platform for achieving this distinction because the demand-driven adjustment of light and shadow is a basic component of our cleanroom concepts.
Environment monitoring with CMT
