SITOP PSU8600 is the first power supply system with full integration in Totally Integrated Automation. This pays off both in engineering in the TIA Portal and in actual operation. For example, voltage and current can be individually adjusted for each output, and the integrated overload protection enables each output to be monitored. Other modules from the system toolbox can be added to suit requirements with no wiring overhead, for example to buffer power failures. Comprehensive diagnostic and maintenance information is available via PROFINET. SITOP provides the best possible support for power management for plants or machines, from recording power data from individual outputs to switching outputs on and off via PROFIenergy. In this way, the SITOP PSU8600 is setting new standards in plant reliability and efficiency.

Great performance in a very small space

The high efficiency up to 94% of the basic devices ensures minimum heat loss, which makes very compact designs possible. Up to four outputs monitored for overloads also help save space for circuit-breaking devices. Integrated Ethernet/PROFINET communication opens up new opportunities for diagnostics and the range of applications for your power supply.

Bridging brief and longer power failures

Buffer modules with electrolytic capacitors, providing buffering for up to 600 ms at a load current of 40 A, can be used to protect against brief power dips on the line side (brownouts). The versions with double-layer capacitors (UltraCaps) buffer against longer outages up to 20 s at 40 A. Because the buffer time is longer for lower buffer currents, this enables industrial PCs to be shut down manually as required.

Top integration – with complete system integration

SITOP PSU8600 is the first power supply system that is completely embedded in Totally Integrated Automation (TIA). Not only does this facilitate especially easy, fast and convenient engineering in the TIA Portal, but also extensive evaluation of operating and diagnostics data as well as energy management functions. SITOP PSU8600 with its Industrial Ethernet/PROFINET switch functionality, with two ports on the base units, can be perfectly incorporated into existing automation networks in both in-line and ring structures. The integrated Web server also allows power supply monitoring or diagnosis to be performed remotely.

Top efficiency – from engineering through to operation

Thanks to its compact and modular system design, SITOP PSU8600 can be adapted to address the widest range of requirements, and when necessary, can be flexibly expanded. Because every output can be flexibly set between 5 V and 28 V, there is no need for additional power supply units to run 5 V or 12 V consumers, for instance. And when it comes to energy saving, the system has proven to be highly efficient. Thanks to the very high efficiency rating of the base units (up to 94%), for example, and support for PROFIenergy, individual power supply outputs can be switched off during breaks to save power. And in operation, the system senses the voltage and current data for each individual output, therefore ensuring transparency of the load behavior. This energy data can also be forwarded to higher-level power management systems: for processing and determining potential for energy saving.

 

 

 

Top reliability – thanks to selectivity and monitoring

SITOP PSU8600 offers the optimum basis to identify and eliminate faults at an early stage, initiate preventive maintenance and avoid plant downtimes. This includes monitoring all of the outputs – and selectively switching them off when a fault develops, for instance. As a consequence, a short circuit or an overload at an individual load does not mean that the complete plant or system shuts down. 50% extra power for short-term loads as well as the ability to buffer brief power failures up to 20 seconds at a full 40 A load are further advantages that the SITOP PSU8600 can offer. Additionally, the buffer operation is signaled for brief line-side voltage dips, and the time that the power actually failed – an ideal indicator to evaluate line quality.
