Do you want to influence what Siemens businesses do next? As one of our consultants, you’ll create strategies around the future of mobility, help our customers be at the forefront of digitalization or prepare global markets for megatrends such as energy transition.
Whether in Beijing, Mumbai, or Munich, our consultants develop trendsetting strategies that set businesses up for tomorrow – from pioneering initiatives like digital factories, to designing regional growth and development programs or pushing the agenda for decarbonization. Their role is to shape the future of one of the world’s largest companies and make an impact on society.
We’re looking to grow the next wave of strategy consultants so they too can become future leaders. If you have analytical brilliance, an entrepreneurial spirit and are up for a new challenge, join us.
Being a part of Siemens Management Consulting (SMC) means you’ll have a direct impact on the future of Siemens and society around the world. Hear from those who are fascinated by Industry 4.0 and Digitalization.
“No one project is like the other. Having been with SMC since 2009, I still face new questions on every new project. My personal and professional development has not stopped, I still feel that I am learning at a high pace.”
“We invest in digitalization know-how by screening and understanding the latest trends, and identifying the impact of those trends on our business so we can develop the best strategic response.”
We’re looking for people who want to find the most effective strategies that will shape tomorrow, from interns to experienced professionals.
You can join us as an Intern during your Bachelor (fourth semester at a university completed), Master or PhD studies. You also have the opportunity to start an internship in your gap years. If you're just completing your MBA at a leading international business school, you are highly welcome to apply as an MBA Summer Intern for our Munich office. In general we offer internships with a minimum length of 3 months. As SMC intern you’ll acquire practical experience in a leading strategy consultancy and the best will even receive direct offers to become permanent members of the SMC team.
If you have an excellent university degree (ideally supplemented with an MBA/PhD), practical experience in consulting or a Siemens-related industry and are known for a distinctive entrepreneurial and global mindset, then you could join us as a Consultant. There’s a variety of exciting challenges on offer from day one. You’ll analyze markets and develop business strategies on a number of international projects and prepare top management presentations.
If you have at least two to five years of professional experience in a strategy consulting firm or Siemens-related industry, you could join us as an Experienced Consultant or Project Manager. We’re looking for people who are well-equipped to drive international projects with an appreciation of different cultures. You’ll have proved your strong analytical and conceptual skills through your outstanding professional development as well as an excellent university degree. As an Experienced Consultant or Project Manager you’ll be well on your way to a top management position within Siemens.
Behind the scenes, our consultants are supported by a strong team. We believe recruiting and personal development, IT solutions and financial management are just as important as training support or organizing business travel. We help ensure that everything runs smoothly by working together in small, specialized groups.
To join Siemens Management Consulting, simply fill out the online application and supply your resume, references and motivation letter. If we think you’re a good fit for SMC, we’ll invite you for an interview to demonstrate your business and analytical skills and convince us of your global mindset. You can apply at any time, but we recommend you begin your application at least three months prior to your desired start date.
Siemens Management Consulting (SMC) is the top management strategy consultancy of Siemens. SMC supports Siemens businesses and shapes the future of one of the world’s largest companies. Over 100 strategy projects have been implemented every year since 1996, as SMC pioneered the model of in-house consulting. Beside first-class strategy consulting services, SMC develops top talent for a management position within Siemens.
We have three offices worldwide. The head office is located in Munich, with two others in Beijing and Mumbai.
With a presence in over 200 countries, we’re one of the most international companies in the world. You’ll be based in either Beijing, Mumbai or Munich but work with clients from any one of our locations around the globe.
SMC consultants work on-site at client premises around the world. Our clients are also our colleagues and we work together as one team. You’ll use your knowledge of methodology as well as industry know-how from your former career while your client contributes the professional expertise and industry experience required for the project. Every four to six weeks, you’ll present your progress to a steering committee.
On Fridays, SMC’s “Client Service Teams” (CSTs) and “Practices” meet, training sessions are scheduled and you have time for administrative tasks. And of course you’ll have the opportunity to socialize with your colleagues.
When you reach senior Project Manager or Vice President level you’ll start to specialize. We expect you to gain experience in all of the different Siemens industries and project types during your career with us. So for each new assignment, we make sure you’re working on a different topic or in a different business field.
Yes. From day one, we set aside a personal coach for everyone – normally an SMC Vice President. We’ll work with you to draw up a training curriculum that not only lays the foundations for your success as a consultant, but also satisfies your own interests and needs. Your coach is your personal career mentor and contact in all matters relating to your time here. SMC helps you to make the most of your talents.
Yes, for the Munich consultant staff. If you’d like to spend some time away to pursue other interests, you can take part in one of our leave programs. These give people the opportunity to take time off to pursue their academic, private, or community-driven ambitions.
Three months is the minimum, but ideally, you should be able to spend six months with us to benefit from the experience.
As an Intern, you’ll be a fully-fledged member of our consulting team, working independently on site at our clients’ premises. You’ll have the opportunity to gain an intimate knowledge of our work and the culture at SMC – as well as convincing us of your abilities. A consulting internship typically involves tasks such as research, analysis, data processing, preparing workshops, conducting interviews, and managing and taking responsibility for your own sub-project module. In order for you to benefit both personally and professionally from your time with us, you’ll receive regular feedback on your performance from an SMC consultant acting as your mentor. If you’re one of our top performers and less than 18 months from completing your studies, we’ll make you a direct offer to join us as a Consultant. Otherwise you’ll have the chance to join the ‘SMC Next Generation’ intern retention program.
Unfortunately we can’t offer this at this time.
No, you can apply to join us at any time throughout the year, but we recommend you begin your application at least three months in advance of your desired start date.
We will confirm receipt of your application as soon as the relevant recruiting team has started processing it. We’ll then get back to you within two weeks to let you know whether you’ll be invited for an interview.
