1856

The first telegraph equipment is supplied by Siemens & Halske (S&H)

A telegraph network is developed

 

1907

A Siemens-Schuckekrtwerke (SSW) office is founded in Istanbul, directed by Siemens Österreich (ÖSSW)

 

1918

The Istanbul office is now directed from Berlin

 

1924

The SSW office becomes a Technical Bureau

 

1925

The Technical Bureau Istanbul becomes an independent Turkish company with the name Elektro-Radio; two years later it is renamed Siemens, Société Anonyme Turque d’Electricité

 

1932

The Siemens company in Istanbul is liquidated; Mühendis Tarnopol becomes the agent for S&H and Sazmas for SSW

1953

Türkeli becomes the sole agent for S&H and SSW

 

1958

Türkeli is converted into a new company, Simko, in Istanbul; in 1967 Siemens acquires the equity majority

 

1963

A Turkish cable factory under the direction of Siemens is founded in Mudanya. Power cable manufacture is commenced in 1965

 

1971

A plant for the manufacture of telecommunications cables is established

 

1971

 A Siemens foundation for private social insurance is created

 

1977

The sales company Etmas becomes the agent for Siemens AG in Turkey

 

1983

Etmas receives the status of an international Siemens company

 

1989

Manufacture of EWSD, the digital electronic switching system, commences in Kartal

 

1990

Ambarli, the largest combined cycle power plant in the world, is built near Istanbul

2000

Simko is taken over completely by Siemens and operates as of 2001 as Siemens Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S.

 

2004

Siemens lands a contract from Turkey’s Ministry of Finance for the country’s biggest e-government project

 

2005

Siemens supplies the infrastructure for Turkey's first Formula 1 race track

 

2007

An order is received to deliver the country’s biggest industrial gas turbine, which will be installed in a coal-fired power plant in the northwest Black Sea region

 

2009

Siemens A.S. begins operations in its new plant for medium- and low-voltage technology in Gebze which becomes the first production facility in Turkey to be awarded the LEED Gold certificate

 

2011

Siemens’ first wind farm project in Turkey, Canakkale-Mahmudiye wind farm, for which the company supplied 13 wind turbines, starts operation

 

2013

Opening of the new Marmaray tunnel under the Bosporus for rapid transit services for which Siemens installed the entire signaling and control technology

 

2013

Siemens wins order for the supply of a single-shaft power island with H-Class technology for the Samsun Cengiz Enerji combined cycle power plant in Turkey
