1887

An electric tramway system goes into operation in Budapest

 

1887

The tramway company "Körúti Villamos Vasút Vállalat Siemens & Halske, Lindheim & Cie és Balázs Mór" is registered in Budapest’s commercial register

 

1890

Siemens & Halske (S&H) Vienna opens a Technical Bureau in Budapest

 

1893

The first Hungarian AC power plant is constructed in Salgoterjen

 

1896

The first subway system on the European continent goes into operation in Budapest

 

1900

S&H’s Technical Bureau is transformed into a stock company

 

1902

Ungarische Schuckert-Werke Elektrizitäts AG is established in Budapest

 

1904

The heavy current departments of the Budapest S&H branch merge with the Ungarische Schuckert-Werke Elektrizitäts AG to form the Ungarische Siemens-Schuckert-Werke AG, Budapest (USSW), which is managed until 1938 by the Österreichische Siemens Schuckert Werke

 

1913

The company opens a cable plant in Budapest

 

1913

Siemens provides Hungary’s national railway with the first automatic telephone system and clock systems

 

1925

Hungary’s first radio station is established and the studio technology installed

 

1929

Siemens-Reiniger-Veifa AG is founded in Hungary, and establishes its own production facilities

 

1934

S&H Budapest merges with USSW to form Ungarische Siemens-Werke (USW)

 

1946

The Soviet Union takes possession of USW, which as of 1951 operates under the name Budapester Elektromotor- und Kabelwerk

 

1970

An agency agreement is signed with Intercooperations AG for the sale of Siemens products in Hungary

 

1971

A supply contract is signed with the Budapest transport authorities for a large data processing system

 

1974

Intercooperations AG and Siemens found Sicontact GmbH in Budapest

 

1981

The company delivers the first process computing system for Budapest’s subway

1990

Sicontact GmbH is renamed Siemens GmbH

 

1994

Siemens AG Hungary headquartered in Budapest, is founded, bringing together Siemens’ activities in the country

 

1995

An order is received for an air traffic control system for the Budapest control center

 

1998

Siemens electrifies various Hungarian railway lines

 

2006

Siemens equips a Budapest subway line for fully automatic operation

 

2007

Siemens secures order for Gönyü turnkey combined cycle power plant for E.ON , one of Siemens' biggest projects in Hungary

 

2011

Siemens receives contract to provide technical maintenance for the painting shop of the newly built Mercedes plant in Kecskemét, south of Budapest

 

2012

Siemens is launching its first vocational training initiative in Hungary along the lines of the German model (Siemens Professional Education)

A strategic cooperation agreement is signed with the Hungarian government
