Siemens buys the business of its previous agent, A. Brühlmann & Co., Electricite, Cairo

The Technical Bureau in Cairo is renamed Siemens Orient S.A.

An agency agreement is signed with Electrical & General Contracting Co., Cairo (Elgeco). Elgeco is Siemens’ sole agent in Egypt

 

1957

Founding of the Egyptian Electric Manufacturing Co. (Elmaco); Siemens holds a 20 percent stake

 

1962

Liquidation of Elgeco

 

1975

CENTECH Safwat Habib becomes the new agent

 

1976

Order to supply a transformer substation for the port and industrial area of Dikhilah near Cairo

 

1978

Order from Egypt’s national railway to equip the Nile Delta line near Cairo with state-of-the-art interlocking systems and automatic and centralized control systems

 

1987

Siemens Egypt Branch and Siemens Technical Office in Cairo take over agency activities

 

1990

Joint venture with Arento and Egyptian Telephone Co. (EGTI) for the building of EWSD systems in Egypt

1996

Founding of the joint venture Egyptian Turbine Co. (ETC) for equipping the Ayoun Moussa power plant near Suez

 

1998

Siemens wins major order from Telekom Egypt, the state-owned telecommunications operator in Cairo, to modernize and expand the nation-wide telephone network

 

2001

The Egyptian steam power plants Sidi Krir and Ayoun Moussa are turned over to the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company

 

2005

Siemens delivers a turnkey high-voltage switchgear station to connect the El Kureimat power plant to the national power grid

 

2006

Siemens delivers healthcare technology to the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt, a Center of Excellence for pediatric oncology in Egypt and the Middle East
