Release Notes Building X
September 2026 Release
1. Forrester Total Economic Impact™ Of Siemens Building X™
An independent Total Economic Impact™ study conducted by Forrester Consulting found that Siemens Building X can help organizations improve building performance while delivering measurable financial value. Based on a composite organization, the study identified a 176% return on investment, €206,000 in net present value, and a payback period of less than six months over three years.
Why this matters:
- Measurable return: Creates financial value through lower energy costs, improved facilities management and maintenance efficiency, and faster data management and reporting.
- Scalable impact: Connects building data on one platform, allowing organizations to start with priority use cases and expand across additional buildings and applications as value is proven.
2. Building X Fault Triage Agent
Building X Operations Manager now introduces the Fault Triage Agent enabling users to investigate faults with AI-assisted analysis. Move beyond identifying a fault to understanding its likely root cause and potential resolution paths.
Why this matters:
- Extended reactive maintenance: Reduce the time spent manually analyzing alarms, events, and equipment behavior and move on to fault resolution
- Root cause analysis: Focus on resolving issues instead of searching for relevant information by leveraging AI-assisted insights on potential fault causes.
3. Building X Space Manager
Building X Space Manager turns spatial, occupancy, utilization, capacity, and environmental data into practical insight for facility operations and space planning. It helps teams understand how buildings, floors, rooms, and desks are actually used, compare demand with capacity, and identify underused, overloaded, or comfort-sensitive spaces. Historical occupancy patterns support schedule forecasting, while cost calculations quantify the financial impact of unused space. Aggregated space data can also be made available to other Building X applications, services, dashboards, and enterprise analytics, extending its value across building operations, energy management, sustainability, and portfolio planning.
Why this matters:
- Understand actual demand:
See how occupancy and utilization change across buildings, floors, rooms, desks, space types, and time periods to identify recurring patterns, peak demand, and underused areas.
- Focus savings where they matter most:
Quantify the financial impact of gaps between assigned or reserved space and actual usage, helping you prioritize changes to service levels, cleaning routines, room policies, and space planning.
- Connect utilization with environmental conditions:
Correlate occupancy with indicators such as CO₂, temperature, humidity, particulates, and air quality to identify where building use may affect comfort or indoor environmental quality.
- Extend space intelligence beyond the application:
Make aggregated occupancy statistics available at room, floor, and building level for use in other Building X applications, services, dashboards, visualizations, custom reporting, and third-party analytics.
4. Workplace Experience enabled by Building X
Workplace Experience enabled by Building X connects the activities that shape an office day in one consistent employee experience. It helps you plan when to work onsite, see which coworkers will be in the office, find and book suitable workspaces, navigate buildings, access workplace services, and stay informed about relevant updates and events. By reducing friction across these everyday interactions, the app helps make office visits easier to coordinate and more purposeful, while giving workplace teams greater visibility into how people engage with spaces, services, and workplace communications.
Why this matters:
- Plan more purposeful office days: Bring together information about coworkers, spaces, bookings, events, and workplace services so you can decide when and where to work onsite with greater confidence.
- Access the workplace through familiar channels: Use Workplace Experience within Microsoft Teams or through mobile, web, Outlook, Google Calendar, and supported kiosks, reducing the need to move between disconnected tools.
- Find and book the right workspace: Discover and reserve desks, rooms, bookable zones, and workplace amenities through a more connected booking experience.
- Navigate and use the workplace more easily: Access maps, wayfinding, amenities, notifications, and location-specific information before and during an office visit.
- Improve the experience with evidence: Use booking, check-in, service, communication, and usage signals to understand engagement and guide improvements to employee journeys, spaces, and workplace services.
