Why Siemens Mechatronic System Certification Program?

The philosophy behind our comprehensive industry skills certification focuses on fostering system understanding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. This approach produces individuals who can quickly and appropriately adapt to new work situations.

The core of the SMSCP is our systems approach, which has been used with a high degree of effectiveness to train Siemens’ engineers in Germany. SMSCP courses can be integrated into high school, college, or university curricula or implemented as continuing education.

Students learn about the complexities of mechatronic systems holistically, enabling them to easily transfer their knowledge to other systems and become flexible, autonomous employees.

How to become a partner school

Only SMSCP partner schools can offer our online certification exam to their students. With industry demanding more and more excellently trained employees, our partner schools are playing an important role in educating tomorrow’s workforce. To become a partner school, you need to have successful instructor certifications for at least two faculties.

SMSCP partner schools must have a modularized mechatronic training system on site that meets certain requirements and feature a number of specific components. An implementation plan to integrate SMSCP content into the chosen program and an agreement with the local Siemens subsidiary are required, too.

Instructor training and training dates

An instructor explains a digital twin of an industrial plant to a learner, reflecting the special didactic model used in SMSCP instructor training.

Instructors complete a two-step certification to teach SMSCP levels 1–3. The process begins with a Systems Approach Paradigm week that introduces the special didactic model, followed by level-specific courses.

For the level you want to be certified in, you will also need to engage in a one to two-week course for the specific content for each level. Completion of the level 1 course is a requisite plus you have to attend level 2 and level 3 courses. Once you have completed these two steps and have a connection with an SMSCP partner school, you’re certified to start teaching SMSCP related courses. For further information, please refer to our FAQs for instructors document. Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about the training content, along with upcoming course dates and availability.
