Why SIMOTICS M-1PH8 main motors?

SIMOTICS M-1PH8 motors are designed for use as main drives in production machines and machine tools. In addition to asynchronous and synchronous versions, you can also find motors with synchronous-reluctance technology. SIMOTICS M-1PH8 motors are based on a flexible and modular kit system, so you can use them for nearly all drive tasks.

Asynchronous version (shaft heights 80 to 355)

  • Rated speed: 400–12.000 rpm
  • Max. speed: Up to 24.000 rpm
  • Rated output: 2.8–1.340 kW
  • Rated torque: 13–12.435 Nm

Synchronous version (shaft heights 132 to 225)

  • Rated speed: 700–3.600 rpm
  • Max. speed: Up to 4.500 rpm
  • Rated output: 15–310 kW
  • Rated torque: 94–1.650 Nm

Reluctance version (shaft heights 132 and 160)

  • Rated speed: 1000–2800 rpm
  • Max. speed: Up to 5000 and 6500 rpm
  • Rated output: 21–121 kW
  • Rated torque: 200–500 Nm

Key benefits

Commission and operate easily

The specially harmonized power components, electronic rating plates and ability to integrate the motors via the DRIVE‑CLiQ system interface mean SIMOTICS M-1PH8 motors are easy to commission and operate, problem-free.

Handle high-performance needs

M-1PH8 motors cover a broad performance spectrum. They have high smooth running characteristics and ruggedness, and with high dynamic performance and short accelerating times, they handle extreme duty cycles and short rise times.

Maintain flexibility and precision

Flexible configuration options and an extended power range from 2.8 kW to 1340 kW means the M-1PH8 can meet the requirements of many customers. The motors are also exceptionally precise in terms of speed, torque and positioning.

Featured capabilities

Asynchronous version

For applications where the primary focus includes precise, smooth running characteristics and controllability of the axes. When used with SINAMICS G120 converters, you can extend the speed range and address new applications.

Synchronous version

Unbeatable smooth running operation for applications that focus on high-rated torques. With a wide range of options, such as forced ventilation or water cooling, you can adapt them to any application.

Reluctance version

Ideal for main drive operations with short idle times, like extruders, winders, wire drawing or servo pumps. Reluctance versions have high power density and efficiency, and are available with forced ventilation or water cooling.
