Algeria is one of the largest markets for Siemens in Africa. Siemens has had a presence in Algeria for more than 56 years and is committed to increase its presence in the region by focusing on its innovative capacity in the areas of oil and gas, power generation and energy management. Using various initiatives such as the agreement concluded in 2017 with the CDTA (Center for Development and Advanced Technologies), Siemens is also playing a major role in the fields of industrial digitalization by developing specific software applications in the respective fields.
As one of the world’s main producers of oil, Algeria offers good opportunities. Thus, Siemens will open its first African center dedicated to the maintenance of compressors for the oil sector in Algiers in 2018. And the company won’t be stopping there. “We will work hand in hand with research centers, universities and the government to improve the day to day life of Algerians based on a genuine understanding of the opportunities and challenges of the country”, says Joe Kaeser.
The Siemens activities in Algeria are aimed at developing solutions together to support the rapid evolution of the country. To meet the increasing growth in energy requirements, Siemens has supplied modern equipment for power generation, e.g. for Hassi R’Mel, one of the most innovative power plants in the world which generates electricity from solar energy and natural gas.
Siemens’ strategy in Africa has always been to support local skills by launching various programs aimed at promoting the transfer of knowledge in research and development. As Algeria is one of the largest markets for Siemens in Africa, Joe Kaeser is keen to reaffirm to the country the company’s full support for the economic and social ecosystem in Algeria.
He is also proud about the company’s local workforce and set up in the country: “Siemens Algeria was recently voted one of the ‘Best Places To Work For in Algeria 2018’. As a leading company in our category, we are confirming our commitment to provide our employees with the best working environment, and to investing in developing their skills, so that they can serve our customers in the most competent, effective and dedicated way”, Joe Kaeser adds.
