Every package starts with three basic modules:
Built-in Database
The unique built-in Database gives customers a key advantage in Advanced Protection Assessment — enabling them to optimize data quality and reliability. The central database enables data to be automatically shared and used across all modules, eliminating the need for manual updates.
Database Editor
The Database Editor Module is the basis for all Advanced Protection Assessment functions. With this module, protection engineers can simplify transformer model building, including relay, recloser and fuse model import, data merging and quick entry of protection data.
One-Line Diagram
With the One-Line Diagram Module users can build and maintain a system one-line diagram, as well as the display of data, short circuit results and protection simulation responses. With this module, users get direct access for opening breakers and applying faults.
Optional modules include:
Short Circuit
The Short Circuit Module calculates any type of fault on any size system. Supports standard and customized reporting, automated fault studies, fault location analysis and user-defined fault conditions.
Coordination Graphics
The Coordination Graphics Module displays overcurrent and distance protective device characteristics. Supports interactive contingency and fault application, graphical relay resetting and direct resetting of relay and distribution recloser taps and test points.
Line Constants
The Line Constants Module computes the self positive-sequence impedance and the set and mutual zero-sequence impedances of overhead transmission and distribution lines based on conductor data, the use of ground wires and tower configuration.
Relay Setting
The Relay Setting Module represents a company's relay setting procedures as user-written macros that perform fault studies, compute raw relay settings and select actual taps. Library of "starter macros" includes setting digital distance relays in permissive overreach transfer trip schemes and more.
System Simulator
The System Simulator Module performs single-scenario studies interacting with the one-line diagram.
Relay Checking
The Relay Checking Module provides automated stepped-event simulation of your protection system in response to a variety of fault scenarios. This unique capability allows you to perform a wide area evaluation of protection to uncover miscoordinations. Summary reports make it easy for you to spot trouble.
Order Production Module
The Order Production Module generates data-driven reports of relay settings based on taps and test points for specific locations.
Power Flow (Pro-Ultimate Plus only)
The Power Flow Module offers both Newton and Fast Decoupled solution methods. Control algorithms support tip and phase-shifting transformers, voltage control by reactive generation, switched capacitor bank operation and area interchange control.
Breaker Duty Module (Pro-Ultimate Plus only)
The Breaker Duty Module automates the evaluation of breaker interrupting duty following approved procedures of either the IEC or ANSI standards and streamlines the evaluation of new and existing breakers.
Sensitivity Analysis Module (Pro-Ultimate Plus only)
The Sensitivity Analysis Module automatically runs a series of contingencies designed to evaluate the correct operation of the line protection under study, as well as the sufficiency regarding specific requirements of that operation.
Equipment Protection
The Equipment Protection Module lets you quickly gather apparatus protection data and equipment operational curves to run comprehensive protection evaluations — boosting engineer productivity and ensuring complete coverage.
Short Circuit Reduction (Pro-Ultimate Plus only)
The Short Circuit Reduction Module offers two types of network reduction, useful for providing network models for EMTP calculations, for other non-Advanced Protection Assessment programs and for sharing data with a utility's neighbors.
Advanced Protection Assessment Compliance (NERC PRC)
The optional Advanced Protection Assessment Compliance Module (CM) helps streamline the compliance evaluation process, taking advantage of the highly detailed protection simulation capabilities of Advanced Protection Assessment, evaluating the appropriate NERC PRC standard and creating detailed reports.
Compliance Module
The Advanced Protection Assessment Compliance Module (CM) streamlines the compliance and reliability evaluation process by leveraging the highly detailed protection simulation capabilities of Advanced Protection Assessment to evaluate NERC PRC standards and critical protection behavior during faults, overload and power swings and creates detailed reports.
TS Link
This unique simulation tool integrates Advanced Protection Assessment's protection data with the PSS®E time-domain transient stability program. It enables a reliable simulation of the bulk electric power system in a way that models the effect of protective relay operations on the dynamic behavior of the system.
Bridge
The Advanced Protection Assessment Bridge Module provides two-way data exchange of network and protection data with asset management systems. The Bridge manages the mapping of data common to both systems in a way that preserves data integrity throughout. Depending on the transfer the user requests, it can create new substations, LZOPs, relays and relay settings or update existing ones.
