Letting people enjoy their lives more freely, letting businesses work more efficiently and letting development zones operate more independently. What makes Distributed Energy Systems better adapt to different needs?
The Energy Configurator evaluates optimization potential within your business to beneficially change the energy mix, to reduce the ecological footprint, and to significantly reduce your energy expenses.
Rebuild the Energy System
From industrial parks and business districts, to every household, communities, schools and hospitals that closely related with our lives, they all require a sustainable energy supply. With the continuous development of renewable energy, traditional energy system is facing tremendous transformation. Distributed Energy System, as a new energy solution which is more reliable, flexible, efficient and sustainable, can balance the energy supply and consumption according to varied needs in different scenarios. It redefines the relationship between energy and users. End users are not only the consumers of energy, but can also be the producers and administrators.
What makes Distributed Energy System so special?
Distributed Energy Systems (DES) as we define them refers to energy generated at point of or near to point of consumption is a term which encompasses a diverse array of distributed energy assets (i.e. generation, storage, etc.), (remote) digital services, management solutions and value added services incl. financing.
DES technologies represent a paradigm shift and offer opportunities to reduce costs, e.g. through local electricity generation, improve reliability of energy supply buildings and secure additional revenue through optimized utilization and monetization of energy assets e.g. through participation in flexibility / Demand Response markets.
Compared to the traditional centralized model of linear and unidirectional power generation, DES is bidirectional, more diverse, dynamic and complex. This system involves multiple actors and multilayered energy, information, and money flows so that it not only has better control of electricity interruption arising suddenly but also enables us to have a more flexible arrangement to energy consumption. Hence, DES brings postive impacts to us, such as better energy consistency, carbon reduction and cost saving.
Distributed Energy System will lead the prosperous development of whole energy value chain, including primary energy production, power, technology supply, equipment manufacture and marketing, and energy consumption. It’s not only an energy transformation, but a crucial historic opportunity as well.
DES can be tailored to specific requirements and users' applications, including cost reductions, energy efficiency, security of energy supply and carbon reduction.
DES cover local power generation (renewable and conventional), combined heat and power solutions, various energy storage options (including electric vehicles) and microgrids management systems.
Today, disadvantages of the traditional centralized model of linear power generation have been revealed. Using Distributed Energy System (DES) has become the new trend for energy-intensive business and buildings such as e.g. office buildings, industrial plants and highly energy-inefficient factories.Because of a high investment return with low cost and clear impacts on carbon reduction, Distributed Photovoltaic Power has become an important consideration for capital holders and building owners under the support of national policy.
However, due to the low entry requirements in China market, the quality of domestic distributed Photovoltaic Power construction is mixed. Given current circumstances, Siemens didn't lower its construction standards. Instead, relying on its strong technical background, Siemens chose to communicate with partners continuously and ensured that the whole construction process and result meet Siemens' requirements.
Midday of July is the time when natural light condition in Shanghai reaches its best. Burning sunshine makes the photovoltaic power panel on Siemens Circuit Protection Systems Ltd., Shanghai (SCPS) factory bright and shiny. Photovoltaic power panels and whole distributed photovoltaic system transform the sunshine into renewable energy with zero carbon emission, supporting the factory's lighting system and machine operation. Thanks to Siemens' DES solution, it can operate successfully in the factory. The whole distributed photovoltaic system includes photovoltaic panels, power inverter, header box, grid connected cabinet, transformer, weather station, gateway, computer, networks and other electrification and digital equipments.
SCPS DES project was initiated in 2015. After several round discussion, the best solution was selected to install a 300KV photovoltaic array and related system in the factory. On May 17th 2017, the project went into operation officially. Since then, SCPS distributed photovoltaic system has been running smoothly and achieved great environmental and economic benefits.
Yavor Nikolov, SCPS General Manager said:"The photovoltaic power panel on Siemens Circuit Protection Systems Ltd., Shanghai (SCPS) has generated great economic and environmental impacts. In terms of energy consumption, this project is expected to save electricity cost by 60,000 Rmb per year. At the same time, the CO2 emission will be lower at least by 15%. If the system can be upgraded in the future, for example by adding more photovoltaic power panels for SCPS, even achieving zero carbon emission is possible. Also, by adopting innovative financial solutions, SCPS' investment in this project was almost negligible."
It is because of DES that SCPS project can achieve such a big success.
DES can have a beneficial impact for several different applications, such as:
- Various industrial and commercial parks, city communities and the regional smart grid, providing green and highly efficient power supply.
- Data center, providing flexible and safe power supply and improving energy efficiency.
- Airport, ensuring multiple power supply, saving energy and reducing emission.
- Hospital, providing secure and green energy supply, cutting down operational costs.
- Hotel, meeting the requirement of uninterrupted energy supply, realizing low-carbon and green travel.
- Plants, ensuring production and living energy needs, optimizing the construction investment, cutting down operational costs.
- Campus, providing uninterrupted and highly efficient energy supply, implementing sustainable human oriented concept.
- Commercial Buildings, meeting working requirements and reducing operating costs, eco-friendly.
- Rural Electrification, enabling the use of green energy sources and maintaining economic growth.
