Growing urbanization all over the globe is driving demand for transportation and mobility in densely populated urban areas. The quality of life cities afford and their ability to compete economically both depend to an increasing degree on rapid and reliable urban mass transit systems.
To meet the needs of tomorrow’s urban public transport networks, we’ve developed Inspiro, a new metro. Compared to conventional metro rolling stock, Inspiro’s benefits for operators include not just greater transport capacity, but also lower operating costs, achieved by reducing the metro’s power requirements and streamlining maintenance procedures. Inspiro also offers travelers enhanced levels of comfort, thus making the metro more appealing as an alternative to the automobile and helping to ease the burden on city roads.
The lightweight aluminum carriage structure and weight-optimized chassis, along with numerous other innovations like optional LED carriage lighting and demand-controlled air-conditioning, help to reduce the power consumption. Design details like the wide entrances, illuminated information graphics on the door panels and new-style passenger support poles are all aimed at expediting passenger flow and reducing the time spent by trains at stations.
The trains are equipped with an electrodynamic braking system designed to reduce noise. An optional driver assistance system is available to help maximize energy efficiency, and trains can even be equipped for driverless operation if required.
Inspiro is also 95-percent recyclable and is manufactured using environment-friendly processes.
