Positioners play a crucial role in controlling actuators in sectors of industry like chemicals or oil and gas. They’re also used widely to control valves in the pharmaceutical and food processing industries. Siemens’ SITRANS VP300 and SIPART PS2 are intelligent electropneumatic positioners for linear and part-turn actuators, designed to meet the needs of a variety of industries.
The SITRANS VP300 and SIPART PS2 offer a reliable means of controlling an exceptionally wide range of valves. Unlike their conventional electropneumatic and pneumatic counterparts, Siemens’ positioners incorporate special technology that enables them to operate using a very small amount of compressed air. For SITRANS VP300 and SIPART PS2 users, this means lower energy requirements and maintenance costs, because the need for less air means less compressor capacity to deliver the requisite pressure.
SIPART PS2 is currently the most widely used positioner for linear and part-turn actuators in many process industries. It features a particularly flexible stroke range and smart diagnostics, and can communicate via HART, PROFIBUS PA or Foundation Fieldbus systems.
SITRANS VP300 is an exceptionally robust positioner. The device is designed specifically to operated in tough environments with moist or contaminated compressed air. Non-contacting position detection and rugged mechanical connection via an OPOS Interface® mean that the SITRANS VP300 is not just highly resistant to vibration, it also permits simple and fast assembly with just two screws.
