SOMATOM Definition Flash

The new SOMATOM Definition Flash with the Stellar Detector was designed specially to make CT exams much healthier for patients. Its core innovation – the revolutionary Flash Spiral – can be summarized in four words: Flash speed. Lowest dose.
The CT scanner uses 45% less energy for a standard thorax scan and 85% less energy for a cardiac spiral compared to the previous model.
It also requires less radiation dose - less than 1mSv for cardiac examinations.
Lead is abandoned completely for the usage of counterweights.
The new computed tomography system consumes less energy during examinations by:
- The new Stellar Detector that requires 70% less energy (1,500 W down to 450 W)
